About the Magicbit

In today’s world, we need technology for our daily lives. Therefore, it is very important for everyone to learn how to use technology in practice. Especially for students today, technology is essential for any future job or business.

But it is no secret that when we talk about this technology, it is often considered complicated, difficult and very expensive. Especially in Asian countries like Sri Lanka, a lot of things related to this are not manufactured so the technical equipment will have to be purchased abroad.

Therefore, as a solution to these problems, there were able to create a wonderful invention called Magicbit in Sri Lanka. That is, a Magicbit was launched in 2019 by three engineers from Moratuwa University. Magicbit is a great tool designed to easily learn new technologies in the world and easily invent new products without spending a lot of money.

Using this device, it is possible to create any design in various fields such as programming, robotics, electronics and the Internet of Things. In 2021, this Magicbit was released to the world through the world famous website Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/magicbit0/magicbit-create-your-first-iot-project-in-10-minutes) and its first launch was marked as a crowdfunding project.

Over the past three years, Magicbit products have been exported to more than 38 countries in the world, and this has become more popular in the field of STEM Education among children, which is related to the development of innovation and creative skills in other countries of the world. And it is an approved product as a tool that can be used to develop children’s creative skills by the American STEM.ORG, an organization that encourages children to innovate around the world.

For example, even a ten-year-old child has been able to create something like a brand new design using an electronic circuit over the Internet in a very short period of time through the Magicbit. Due to this uniqueness, it has received many local and international recognitions. Awarded as the best startup in Sri Lanka in the year 2022 at the National Ingenuity Awards 2022.

The uniqueness of this is that Magicbit is a Sri Lankan product designed by Sri Lankan engineers. We have used products in developed countries such as Japan and America, but Sri Lankan technical products are rarely seen in those countries. But Magicbit is a domestic product that is in good demand even in such developed countries.
